What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We collect and process only the information about you that 1) you decide to give us and 2) that is absolutely necessary for us to be able to match you up with a buddy. In order to make sure that you only share the most necessary information to make use of this service, we developed a sign-up form requiring the least amount of information possible. All the information that may be asked and stored from you is therefore contained in the sign-up form, including 1) Preferred language(s) of communication; 2) Name; 3) country of residence; 4) Age-group; 5) Fields of engagement with the climate and ecological crisis; 6) email address and phone number for the communication with the facilitation team and your buddy.
What do we use it for?
The information you choose to give will be used to match-up you up with another participant based on your geographical location, age, and engagement-type. The email address will be used for the monthly email updates containing the theme of the month and guiding questions for the buddies. Further, the email address may be used to send you information about collective actions and other information concerning and related to the buddy-system. Your phone-number will be used to contact you once via WhatsApp and/or Telegram, in case you use these services: this is done to invite you to our WhatsApp and Telegram broadcast groups and to remind you of the first Email we will send you. Participants can at any point unsubscribe, either by clicking the unsubscribe button in our Emails or by sending an email to climateactionbuddies@protonmail.com.
Aggregated data
We collect and aggregate the place-of-recidence information of all participants to publish this map. The map is generated with Google-sheets.
How is your information stored and who will process it?
Your information will be stored and processed on the Customer Relationship Management platform SendInBlue. You can find more information to this service on their website https://www.sendinblue.com/legal/termsofuse/. The facilitation team will use participants’ data to match up the buddies. Potentially, we will replace this manual matching-up process by our team members with an automated system generating the buddy pairs. The same security and protection of your data will be guaranteed. Your name, email address, phone number, and a list of the languages you speak will be shared with your buddy.
What are your rights?
You can request your data to be deleted at any time by sending an email to climateactionbuddies@protonmail.com. Please be aware that in this case, we will have to remove you for practical reasons from our programme.
