Who can and should sign up to CLIMATE ACTION BUDDIES?
All young people fighting for environmental and social justice. This can mean anything from protesting on the streets over managing community-forests to using art to bring the climate crisis to the people. In whatever way you are engaging with environmental and social justice, if you would like to connect to fellow young people around the world working for the same goals as you, this is the place for you!
You say “young” people can sign up – what does that mean?
For now, we would like to focus on connecting youth, so we are encouraging everyone under the age of 35 to sign up.
On what basis do you match up the buddies?
The first thing we consider is that buddies have a language in common in which they feel comfortable speaking. Then, we aim to match up people from different continents. We also try to connect people who engage with environmental and social justice in a similar way. Because our ability to match buddies based on these criteria depends on who signs up, we cannot guarantee a specific buddy profile. To increase the chances that you match up with someone ideal for you, spread the word about CLIMATE ACTION BUDDIES!
What if I do not really get along with my buddy or they are unresponsive?
Please never hesitate to contact us if you are feeling uncomfortable with your buddy, it just does not click, or your buddy does not stay in touch. We will try our best to match you up with someone else as quickly as possible.
What is the facilitation team, and what do they do?
The facilitation team is a group of young activists from different parts of the world, but mainly from Europe so far. We take care of the logistics of CLIMATE ACTION BUDDIES: we match the buddies, administer the website, and agree on the monthly theme for the calls between the buddies. What is a glocal partner, what can they do, and how do I become one?
Being a glocal partner entails two things: Firstly, they spread the word about CLIMATE ACTION BUDDIES in their local networks. Secondly, they create a local community connected to the network in which local buddies can come together, share experiences and build a stronger basis to collectively act in solidarity with their buddy pairs. Such community-building can take many different forms, your imagination is the limit here, but to give some examples:

How do you ensure that my data is safe?
We gather as little data as possible from you and the information we have is stored in a closed folder which only the facilitation team has access to. Please find more detailed information under our privacy policy.
