CLIMATE ACTION BUDDIES is an international collaboration of youth movements, aiming to link activists from different continents with each other. Our goal: building a simple decentralised network that is based on mutual learning and the exchange of stories and experiences.
After signing up on our website, you’ll be digitally connected to an activist from a different continent. Our facilitation group will regularly provide support in the form of emails, a simple digital infrastructure, and – in collaboration with glocal partners – the organisation of digital and physical meet-ups, during which participants can exchange their experiences.
HOW IT WORKS
WHY WE ARE DOING THIS?
We strongly believe in local action directed at the societies that we understand best. But we also believe that we can not fight the degradation of our environments and global warming without understanding the global forces that are creating them.
With Climate Action Buddies, we want to help people and movements achieve three goals:
Building global solidarity
We believe that personal relationships are the strongest bonds in any community that will last even when everything else is changing. The buddy-system will build and nurture these bonds.
Learning from other communities
The buddy-pairs will make ideas flow from one community to another where they can be shared in physical meet-ups and in the networks that we all are part of.
Taking action together
If we want to stand up to the global forces that are wrecking our planet, we must take action together. Our experience has shown that personal relationships are necessary to organise across borders and oceans.
